Our 5 Favorite Funko Pops That Will be at SDCC

Posted on

Oh San Diego Comic Con, how I wish we could be standing before your gates. For the last few weeks, as we creep ever closer to the holy mecca of nerd culture, Funko has been showing us what’s in store as far as new Pops go. The final wave has finally been released, making ten waves in all and dozens of Pops that’ll soon be part of our collections. To tide your excitement (as well as our own), here are the five Funko Pops to be released at SDCC that we’re looking forward to the most!

 1. Bodhi Rook (Star Wars: Rogue One)

He was the first Pop to be shown as part of the first Star Wars-themed wave, and what a way to kick down the door.

Bodhi was a fan favorite of the Star Wars: Rogue One, and for good reason. A defector of the Empire, he looked to bring an end to their villainous reign, even at the cost of his own life. Plus, the actor who portrayed him is the incredible Riz Ahmed, from Nightcrawler and The Night Of.

We can’t wait to get our hands on Bodhi Rook’s Funko Pop. He’ll finally get to join the rest of the Rogue One crew since he was the only one they hadn’t made yet!

2.Tony Stark with Helmet (Spider-Man Homecoming)

We know, we know, there’s already plenty of Iron Man Funko Pops, but what’s one more? Especially since this one features Tony Stark in his slick business suit instead of his usual gear. Plus, he's holding on to the helmet, sort of letting you know that he's fully ready for action at a moment's notice.

As Stark is going to be taking more of a mentoring role to Spider-Man in Homecoming, this Pop seems more appropriate than featuring yet another iteration of the Iron Man suit that’s already been teased in the Homecoming trailers.

This Pop looks well-designed and will fit right in with the current Homecoming-themed Pops that are already out there.

3. Joker Batman (Suicide Squad)

Sure, Suicide Squad had its problems. You could even go as far to say it was a bad movie...yeah, you could definitely say that. But one thing is for sure, the costumes were on-point. And even though we were only teased this concept in the movie itself, Joker Batman will be getting his own Pop.

Tell me that’s not something you’ve secretly been hoping for. It’s colorful, and detailed, almost like a variant or custom Pop to the regular Batman design. It's not too far off from this Pop that came as a Lootcrate Exclusive. But it’s not, it’s the real deal and even cooler than any Lootcrate gimme. This is definitely on our list.

By the way, you should check out everything that was announced during the DC-themed 5th wave. They’re all pretty incredible.

4. Luna Lovegood with Glasses (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince)

Everybody can admit they’ve got a soft spot in their heart for Luna Lovegood. She’s zany, yet caring, and speaks to the weirdness that we’ve all got somewhere inside of us. Featuring her Spectrespecs from the sixth movie, Luna’s new Pop will definitely add some flair to your collection.

5. The Mountain - Armored (Game of Thrones)

If you already have The Mountain’s Season 4 Pop, you may need to clear some space off your shelf. Not only will you want The Mountain’s armored Pop to be front and center, but as you can imagine, it’s quite large.

Now in his zombified state, Ser Gregor serves house Lannister like a mute hammer that nails down any loose boards within the Lannister rule. Of course, by “nail”, we mean smash and by “loose boards” we mean heads.

If you’re anticipating the return of Game of Thrones as much as we are--which, come on, we know you are, then The Mountain’s armored Pop is definitely for you.

BONUS: T-Dog (The Walking Dead)

I mean, it’s about damn time! You’re always in our hearts, T.

There are plenty more Pops that are headed to SDCC. If you'd like to see the full list, check it out here. And don't forget the Toy Thug store, where you'll be able to find plenty of awesome Pops to add to your collection!
